Housing Services
Housing Services help people living with HIV find and maintain safe, stable housing. This may include emergency, short-term, or transitional housing support, along with referrals to longer-term housing resources. Housing services are limited based on funding availability.
Who is this for?
- People living with HIV who are at risk of losing their housing
- Individuals who are homeless or unstably housed
- People facing an urgent housing-related crisis that could affect their health or ability to stay in care
How does it work?
- A housing assessment is completed to better understand the immediate need and available options.
- For emergency situations, agencies work quickly to begin addressing urgent housing needs.
- For short-term assistance, staff may help develop a housing plan and connect individuals to other resources that support long-term stability.
What the program cannot do?
- Provide cash payments directly to clients
- Pay mortgage payments
- Return security deposits directly to an individual
Why does it matter?
- Stable housing supports better health outcomes
- Safe housing makes it easier to stay in HIV medical care
- Housing support can reduce crisis situations that interrupt treatment and daily living
