CVS Update

On 10.22.2024 – CVS will no longer participate in the Texas HIV Medication Program (THMP) after November 5th, 2024.

  • Action Required: Choose a new pharmacy from the DSHS Pharmacy List.
  • Contact: Call 1-800-255-1090 to inform THMP of your choice of pharmacy.
  • Deadline: If you do not make a choice by November 5, 2024, THMP staff will select a new pharmacy for you.
  • Next Steps: Ask your doctor or former pharmacy to transfer your prescriptions to the new pharmacy. You can then order your prescriptions as usual.

Important Dates

  • November 1, 2024: Open Enrollment starts — first day you can enroll in, renew, or change health plans through the Marketplace for the coming year. Coverage can start as soon as January 1, 2025.
  • December 15, 2024: Last day to enroll in or change plans for coverage to start January 1, 2025.
  • January 1, 2025: Coverage starts for those who enroll in or change plans by December 15, 2024 and pay their first premium.
  • January 15, 2025: Open Enrollment ends — last day to enroll in or change Marketplace health plans for the year. After this date, you can enroll in or change plans only if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
  • February 1, 2025: Coverage starts for those who enroll in or change plans December 16, 2024 through January 15, 2025 and pay their first premium.

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is for selecting and paying for Health Insurance plans.

After enrollment, there may be local assistance to help pay premiums, co-pays, and deductibles for People Living with HIV.

Texas HIV Medication Program (THMP)

Effective November 1, 2024, the Texas HIV Medication Program (THMP) Texas Insurance Assistance Program (TIAP) will now pay premiums, deductibles, and copayments for all medications covered by eligible health insurance plans for people living with HIV who are eligible for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). Your local agency can help you apply for THMP and insurance assistance. For up-to-date information on how to apply, call THMP at 800-255-1090 or visit https://dshs.texas.gov/hivstd/meds/tiap.
