Health Insurance Assistance
Health Insurance Assistance helps people living with HIV keep health coverage in place and reduce out-of-pocket costs, so they can continue getting medical care, medications, dental services, and other essential support.
Who is this for?
- People living with HIV who need help paying for health insurance premiums or cost-sharing
- Individuals who have employer coverage, Marketplace plans, Medicare, Medicaid, or other eligible coverage and need extra support
- People who need help choosing or maintaining a plan that supports HIV care and treatment
What services may be included?
- Payment of eligible health insurance premiums
- Payment of eligible dental insurance premiums when allowed
- Help with cost-sharing such as co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, and pharmacy co-pays
- Support for Medicare premiums and certain cost-sharing when allowed
- Education about plan options and how to use insurance benefits
How does it work?
- Staff review eligibility and determine what insurance assistance options may be available.
- Other insurance assistance programs may need to be reviewed first when required.
- Staff help identify a cost-effective plan that supports HIV medical and pharmacy care.
- Payments are made directly to insurers, providers, or vendors when approved.
