Medication Assistance
Medication Assistance helps people living with HIV access the medications they need when other programs or insurance do not fully cover the cost.
What services may be included?
- Help paying for approved HIV-related medications when eligible
- Support for medication access when other programs cannot fully meet the need
- Ongoing assistance with maintaining medication access
- Coordination with healthcare providers and pharmacies as needed
How it works?
- Eligibility for the Texas HIV Medication Program and other available medication programs is reviewed first.
- If other programs cannot fully meet the person’s medication needs, local medication assistance may be considered.
- A healthcare provider prescribes the medication and helps document the medical need.
- Eligibility is reviewed regularly to confirm continued access to assistance.
Important Information
- This service does not replace or duplicate other medication assistance programs when those programs are available.
- Not all medications may be covered under every program.
- No cash or direct payments are made to clients.
Why does it matter?
- Helps prevent gaps in medication access
- Supports HIV treatment adherence
- Reduces the risk of interruptions in care
- Promotes better long-term health outcomes
